Visa Requirements for EU Citizens

If you are a citizen of an EU member state, you do not need a visa to study in Malta. A valid travel document or a document confirming your identity and citizenship (such as a national ID card) is all that is required to enter Malta to study at International European University, Malta Campus!

Note that the Maltese visa process can be completed fully online! Please consult with the Maltese embassy or consulate in your country for further information on how to apply for a Maltese visa online.

Visa Requirements for Non-EU/EEA/Swiss Citizens

If you are not a citizen of an EU/EEA/Swiss country, you must obtain a Student Visa from the nearest Maltese embassy or consulate in your country. We can assist you in setting up a visa appointment with the consulate if needed. In most cases, you will need to complete the visa application online via the website of the Maltese embassy or consulate.

It is highly advisable to start the visa process as soon as you receive the Invitation Letter from International European University, Malta Campus. After arriving in Malta, you must apply for a residence permit within 90 days of arrival to extend your stay.

Prepare the necessary documents:

  • Maltese Visa Application Form;
  • Two passport-sized photos;
  • International Passport (valid for at least 6 months);
  • Original Secondary School Certificate;
  • Medical insurance;
  • Proof of accommodation (document confirming the availability of appropriate housing for the intended period of stay in Malta provided by the IEU, Malta);
  • Documents confirming sufficient financial resources to cover costs of living and return travel to the country of origin or residence;
  • Proof of payment of the tuition fee for one year;
  • Original Invitation Letter issued by International European University in Malta;
  • Document proving your English language proficiency level (except in countries where the English language is official);
  • Paid visa fee receipt.

The specifics of the required documentation may vary among consulates, so students should confirm it on the consulate’s website or ask their personal admission manager of IEU, Malta for assistance. It should take up to 90 days for the visa to be reviewed. Early submission of visa documents is advisable as in some cases, the procedure may take a considerable amount of time.

Remember that the visa process might vary from country to country. It is advisable to check with the embassy directly about the visa process in your home state. Stay in touch with our representatives online 24/7! In case we have our local University staff in the country of your citizenship, they will be glad to help you with the visa process.
